While sitting around 18 Wheels of Justice HQ, our saucy and hard working receptionist Kit, was busy chewing gum, filing her nails and texting all at the same time, when suddenly, the phone rings. Now, it is a rare occurrence around here when the office phone rings. We receive tons of emails and often get eggs thrown at the front window at HQ (mostly as a result of my recent article on “The Great Driver Sign on Bonus Hoax”), but phone calls, they are far and few between.
“The phone rang!” she exclaimed. “What, what, whaaat? How long have I been meditating? Just calm down, have a seat, and let me think about this for a minute…”
“Now, what time did the phone ring?”
“One-thirty this afternoon” Kit replied.
“Did you answer it?”
“Yes” Kit said proudly.
So far so good, it’s good to know when something like this happens, all the training we do around here just kicks in automatically. Now, for the tough questions:
“Who was it?”
“Tim Yochum with Quest Liner, he said he will be here in ten minutes and wants to talk to you” Kit said excitedly.
Quest Liner. I know
exactly who Quest Liner is, it’s a tanker carrier in
“Kit, hand me my hat and boots and then watch out the window and see if he has any eggs with him when he gets out of his car…”
I better dust off my computer and look up Quest Liner on “The Google” and see if I can find out what is going on before he gets in here…
Let’s take a closer look at Quest Liner… Here’s what we found out:

Everything looks good so far; Tim is walking in, no eggs
in sight. Let’s find out a little more about
Tim and Quest Liner…
“Welcome, Tim! It’s good to meet you and glad you’re here. What brings you?”
“You invited me here last week for an interview…” Tim replied, with a look that reminded me of my 7th grade teacher when I would give her answers in class.
“Of course, I remember now, things have been really busy ‘round here lately, with the meditating and all. Have a seat and let’s talk about Quest Liner…”
Tim, what is your background and how long have you been with Quest Liner? Why did you decide to work there?

2.) How much tanker experience does a driver or operator
need? Do you offer training?
No previous
tanker experience required, but it does help. With 2 years of safe OTR
experience we provide training to help you be successful at your job. Our
training department has a Director of Training, Regional Trainers,
and local Driver trainers available to assist you. With numerous drivers
having 5, 10, and many over 20 years of experience with Foodliner and Quest
Liner we have skilled teammates willing to help new employees.

have such a good reputation in our industry?
The quality of
our equipment is top notch. We take pride in both the safe operating

our customers and then we fulfill our service commitment.

home?
Fleet Managers
and Terminal Managers are coached to work with the individual driver in
order to meet their work-life expectations. Our goal is to provide a work-life
balance that allows the driver quality home time with an income to meet
their needs. Open communication between driver and management is
the key to a successful relationship.
5.) I noticed you have a substantial list of
benefits for both owner operators and company drivers. What are the top
five in your opinion for Drivers? For Operators?
Medical/Prescription/Dental/Vision and
Disability benefits give you peace of mind that you are protecting your family
today and an excellent 401K Plan with a very good company match that allows you
to take care of your family in the future. Our pay package is very competitive
with an incentive plan that allows a driver to earn up to an additional 4.5% of
their gross pay each quarter. Weekly paychecks with electronic statements via
email or web based are available Tuesday afternoon prior to electronic deposit
on Friday. Electronic logs allow you the peace on mind that you are legal to
DOT regulations and Fleet Managers know what you have available for working
