Thank you!
Ever since we published our “Ask 18 Wheels of Justice” article about driving for the tanker industry, we have been buried with requests from our audience to find out who to contact and who we consider the best tanker carriers. Well we found one, and it is a good one. Let’s “Talk Tanker”…
Change can be difficult at times: to step up and improve your career and life and take a chance can be intimidating. Fortune favors the bold, and sometimes the motivation you need is right in front of you. Think of your family, your wife, your children, and think of yourself. You deserve to take pride in what you do, get satisfaction from a job well done, and make good money while you do it. You have to set goals for yourself or life will pass you by. Job security is not the fear of being laid off from your driving job. It’s not the inability to find another job. We all know that bad driving jobs are a dime a dozen. I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again, the larger the sign on bonus and the more times you hear the word “respect” the faster you should run from this potential employer. Job security is a job that is consistent and gives you consistent pay. How many of us drove for a company that gives you a lot of miles one week of the month and poor miles the other three? Up and down mileage and roller coaster paycheck amounts are not job security. The good news is, there are thousands of good trucking companies to work for in every segment of our industry and we have made this our mission to bring them to you…
Now, down to business! 18 Wheels of Justice has stumbled upon a “peach” of a tanker carrier headquartered in South Florida. When we first contacted them from a recommendation from one of our readers, we were immediately impressed with the reaction from the President of Liquid Cargo, Mr. Kevin Jackson. He rallied his troops and immediately got his entire staff involved to discuss the company. First, a little history and information on Liquid Cargo…
Liquid Cargo, Inc. was established in June, 1985. The Company was started by Mark and Greg Jackson. The two brothers purchased certain assets from a family owned business out of bankruptcy and created Liquid Cargo. Through dedication, hard work and close attention to detail, the Company has expanded to become one of the premier liquid and standard freight cargo transportation companies in the industry. While both of the brothers remain active in the day-to-day operation of the business today Kevin Jackson, the 4th generation of the Jackson family involved in the trucking industry, has come onboard to continue the high standards set by Mark and Greg Jackson.
And now to our interview…
When we visited with Mr. Jackson in Florida, not only did he take time out of his busy schedule, but his entire executive team met with us...
Liquid Cargo is a fascinating company. How many different divisions do you have and what type of driver are you looking for?
company that he/she can call home and make a great living.
There are many readers who have no tanker experience and/but have expressed an interest in stepping up to the plate and trying pulling a tanker. The big question I always get is what’s the first step? Who can they call to learn and move forward?
What’s the first step – That’s easy…Call us at 855-572-2746 x 220
We have a great program and everyone on our operations management staff is qualified to talk with and direct any interested party in regards to pursuing a career in the hazmat tanker industry
For our drivers with past tanker experience, is there a refresher training course that you offer if its been a few years?
We put all drivers with a certified trainer that will tailor the training to the experience level of the individual. Liquid Cargo believes the driver should not only receive proper training but should also be satisfied and comfortable with the training they receive. Too many motor carriers today have a one size fits all training program, done when we say it’s done attitude, so to speak. Liquid Cargo is dedicated to ensuring the driver understands and accepts all the responsibilities that are being asked of them before they are released from the care of their trainers. We will supply a week long training/refresher course for all new hires.
How long is the training to be qualified for a tanker if you come from a van background? Six months? A year?
We will supply a week long training/refresher course for all new hires with continuing on-board training and education based on their experience level. While many will find they have a professional knack for the tanker industry, Liquid Cargo believes all drivers should receive a training program suited to their abilities.
A week? That’s fairly simple and surprising. What’s the advantage of Liquid Cargo vs. other tank carriers? We want the real story, the key to your success with drivers?
We offer a superior pay and benefit package. The real difference is in the personal relationship with our drivers and operators. From Christopher Haney, Safety Trainer, “speaking only for myself, I came here because the Jackson family convinced me that not only do they agree that all drivers should have a voice they sincerely believe that voice should be heard and Liquid Cargo is willing & prepared to listen… In my book, as a former driver those words are golden! A company that is willing to acknowledge and draw on the talent, experience & wisdom of its working staff is a company destined for great things.
The word on the street is that Mr. Jackson and the management team at Liquid Cargo are legends in this business. Why is your company so successful?
Where other motor carriers may except and thrive on mediocre expectations, Liquid Cargo “Jackson Family” prides itself on continuously encouraging and challenging it’s team to develop a “proactive culture” that puts driver safety above “all” other interests. To put in simpler terms; “Liquid Cargo puts the driver first!” Recently becoming part of the American Chemical Council’s “Responsible Care” initiative that message has echoed throughout our customer base and has been overwhelmingly received as a sign of our commitment & dedication to becoming a leader in this industry. That is why our company and our companies reputation stands apart.
You have opportunity to grow as your skills increase and your aptitude and aspiration lead. You may want to be an owner operator, then fleet owner, then an agency owner. It all can be accomplished here with a little slosh, sway and swagger. Call Liquid Cargo Today…
